Growing Sales in a Struggling Economy

In Growing Sales in a Struggling Economy on July 18, 2008 at 11:17 am

Hello fellow sales team!  Times are changing and with it, the need to be more “proactive” and “have a plan” – Here are some basics:

1.  Network.  One of the most important things you can do now is get involved with a networking group like a BNI, LeTip, or Chamber.  There are companies and industries who are growing in this economy, but you can only find them if you are actively talking outside of your industry.

2.  Openly talk to clients in meetings.  Ask them where they are seeing growth from businesses or vendors they have interacted with.  An increased level of communication in this market is not only important, but necessary.

3.  Establish a list of tasks that you must do in a day to have success.  At the end of a long week, you should average 8-10 appointments.  For each appointment less, you should add on 3 hours of proactive prospecting.  This way, the funnel will always be full and you will always have activity.

4.  Do not waste time complaining.  This is an emotional effort that takes you off-base for a logical response.

5.  Before seeing a potential client, give yourself a pep talk.  Do not let negativity or previous disappointment take you off track of your goal to close this sale.
